On the ancient salt trade route between Tibet and the Karnali plains, Mugu district villages were vital waypoints for a commerce that predated modern Nepal. This home preserves packed-earth construction and carved timber that defined that era, now serving as a basecamp for Rara National Park.

We stayed here for two nights while exploring the Jumla–Rara area and had a very pleasant experience. The family was kind and welcoming, and the homemade food felt especially nice after a long day of travel. The room was simple but comfortable, and the surroundings were peaceful. A few small things could be improved, especially with the room facilities, but overall we enjoyed our stay. It felt like a genuine local experience rather than a typical tourist accommodation. I’d happily recommend it to travelers who want to experience the warmth and simplicity of life in this part of Nepal.

The cultural evening was the highlight — not a performance for tourists, but a family continuing their own tradition and sharing it.
