Taplejung is the starting point for the 20-day Kanchenjunga Base Camp circuit — the most remote major trekking route in Nepal and one of the few places where you can approach the world's third-highest mountain from both its north and south faces. This gateway house has prepared trekkers for that approach since the route opened in 1988.
