The elephant bathing ghat on the Rapti River is one of Chitwan's most joyful mornings — former working elephants splashing and wallowing while mahouts scrub them with coconut husk brushes, the whole scene watched by egrets perched on the opposite bank. Our home is 3 minutes from the ghat on foot.
