Tharu Heritage Longhouse Stay

Thakurdwara, Bardia, Bardia

Hosted by Arjun Thapa

The Tharu people are indigenous to the Terai forests of western Nepal, with a material culture adapted to the jungle ecosystem — longhouses ventilated by the forest breeze, cane-woven walls, roof thatch from Saccharum grass, and floors polished daily with a mixture of clay and cow dung. This family maintains an original longhouse.
