By Sunita RaiI woke up before sunrise because the host told me the mountains looked their best in the early morning. I was still half asleep when I stepped outside with a cup of tea, but the cold air quickly woke me up. The village was completely quiet, with only a few lights glowing from nearby houses.
We walked a short distance to a viewpoint above Ghandruk. At first, the mountains were just dark shapes in the distance. Then the first light touched the peaks, slowly turning them golden. Nobody spoke for a while. We just stood there watching, and somehow the cold didn't bother us anymore.
On the way back, we passed a few villagers starting their morning and heard the sound of someone preparing breakfast. By the time we returned to the homestay, the whole village seemed to be waking up.
It was a simple morning, but it became one of my favorite memories from Ghandruk. No crowded tour, no schedule—just a quiet walk, a warm cup of tea, and the mountains slowly coming to life.
