The Changu Narayan temple is Nepal's oldest intact temple complex, its stone inscriptions dating to the 5th century Licchavi dynasty. The hilltop village of 130 families maintains an identity defined almost entirely by this temple — the houses here have always housed priests, craftsmen, and temple servants.
